Leo, John Amaechi, and Maui Fever The Movie

Wow, it's been awhile since I've posted anything (29 days to be exact), and it seems like a lot of people are unhappy about it. So here it goes, my thoughts on this Wednesday.

Leonardo DiCaprio has come a long way since Growing Pains and Titanic, and I must say, I have been enjoying his movies as of late. Leo did two movies in 2006, Blood Diamond and The Departed, which were both very good movies. I also liked Catch Me If You Can and even Gangs of New York was alright. However, it is still weird to think about Leo without thinking back to our 8th grade video year book and Fred Smith calling him Leonardo DiCRAPio. Good stuff. Also, glad to see that Leo hasn't done a film with Matthew McConadouche (Amistad, The Wedding Planner) yet, and let's hope he doesn't. In a show of respect to my good friend Kevin, I am keeping the McConaughey reference alive. Along the same lines, check out this video of Matt Damon impersonating McConaughey...

I came across a story about new college basketball jerseys that apparently showcase players' upper bodies. That's just great...if your John Amaechi (more on him later). Only 4 schools have been chosen by Nike to wear them: The University of Florida, Ohio State University, University of Arizona and Syracuse University. All 4 schools will be wearing them this week in their conference tourneys. Read the story here.

In light of John Amaechi's new book, whatever it is called, I have come to the conclusion that the best way to make money in this world is to keep something from a large group of people, and then write a book about it. Worked for both Jose Canseco (steroids) and Johnny Amaechi (sexual preference).

I don't like Lleyton Hewitt. He plays tennis, he's from Australia, and he still owes me $75.

I was flipping through channels tonight and saw a commercial that Maui Fever is no longer being aired after the Real World. Instead, MTV has replaced it with Road Rules, as if people watch that. Sad day for all. But the good news is that instead of four more 30 minute episodes, they have done us all a favor and made it into a 2 hour season finale that MTV is advertising as "The Maui Fever Movie." The movie can be seen this Saturday at 1pm. Needless to say, please don't call me between the hours of 1-3 on Saturday...thank you.

Just realized that I still have a "Packer Bad Call Brick" in my room. If you are unfamiliar with what this is, it is nothing more than a foam rectangle made to look like a brick with the Packers logo on it. The point of the brick is to obviously throw it at the TV when the Ref makes a bad call, which is better than throwing a heavier item at the TV. Whoever invented it is a genius, and I'm willing to bet that most of you had one at some point growing up. I remember actually throwing this foam brick at my brothers more than at the TV, but the point of it is well taken.

And finally, I don't know if it's just me but I have been noticing that a lot of middle aged men wear hoodless sweatshirts around on the weekends. Go to your local grocery store on a Saturday afternoon, and I bet that 3 out of 5 men aged 35-55 will be sporting a hoodless sweatshirt, most of which will be of the Badger, Packer, or if you are in Stoughton, Stoughton Viking variety. Better yet, just look at what your Dad is wearing this weekend. After seeing this, you must promise yourself that you will never partake in this activity and will only wear hoodies for the remainder of your life.

Thank you and have a great day.

Chinese Food, Crocodile Dundee, and "this is our country"

Random thoughts at 1:01 pm on Thursday, February 1, 2007

I've come to realize that the only reason why I would like to become a lawyer would be so I could pull all nighters with my fellow lawyers and eat take-out chinese food straight out of the container with chop sticks like they do in the movies. Speaking of chinese food, I have been searching for a fortune that had the number 21 on it, which happens to be my birthday and lucky number, for 22 years now, and no longer need to search for it. I got it a couple of weeks ago from the one and only Grand China here in town, and was obviously very happy. It read, "You have a keen sense of humor and love a good time" for all those who were wondering. I like to think so as well. Also, I learned that Li-Mao means Polite...good stuff.

I watched the movie Supersize Me for the first time on Monday night, and the movie both disgusted and amazed me. Obviously eating McDonalds for an entire month is unhealthy, but the dude actually almost died. Nonetheless, I am not going to eat McDonalds in the near future. Oh, and Ronald McDonald scares me.

I am a big fan of pretty much any lemon-lime flavored soda, but Twist Up, which is a knock-off of Sprite/7-Up/Sierra Mist not only doesn't taste good, it doesn't make sense to me. The can says Twist Up on it, but the second "T" in twist is upside down for some reason. So if you are reading it, it says, Twis with an upside down T. What the hell? In other beverage news, I had a Dasani Bottled Water the other day, and didn't like it. I was thinking about how much I would rather have an Ice Mountain or tap water instead of it. But my favorite water of all, hose water on a hot summer day.

Bagels and cream cheese is my favorite late night snack, pizza is my favorite drunk food, and gatorade is my favorite hungover food. Things to think about for the question game, which I happened to play recently for only the second time in my life. If you know what I'm talking about, I like you. If not, move onto AJ Ratliff.

I don't like AJ Ratliff or that cast he has on. Look at him. I have to say something about the Badgers losing, but I'll make it short. I'm not that upset that we lost, I'm upset with the fact that sportswriters and the press have been waiting for this to happen, and now that it has, they are going to rip us apart and talk about how overrated we are. News flash...we are still 21-2, and have beaten 2 top 10 teams. I hate Doug Gottlieb. Go steal some credit cards.

Shaving without shaving cream is not smart.

Is it just me or have the commercials for the new show "Dirt" on FX been rediculously over-played? The commercial time for "Dirt" rivals that of the Robot Dodge Ram commercial and the "this is our country" commerical. I have yet to watch the show, but I'm pretty sure it sucks. And Courtney Cox isn't even that hot.

If Crocodile Dundee were real, and The Crocodile Hunter Steven Irwin were still with us, I could see them being really good friends.

Although very intoxicated last Saturday night, I was very upset about having to wait in line to get into the bar Monday's. It's not even a good bar, and we only went there to meet up with people. The hell of it is, we got in, saw our friends, they wanted to leave, and promptly left. Didn't even get a drink there.

Been thinking about new band names lately. Any suggestions? How about Sharp Harkins and the Barricade? Or we could spell it Barrakade (for Justin Barrak). Let me know what you think or if you have anything else...and Kevin...Sharkins is not an option.

That's all I got. It is now 1:33 pm.

Rony Seikaly's Hot Wife

If you are anything like me, you often find yourself wondering how athletes such as Rony Seikaly and any toothless hockey player end up with hot women at the end of the day. Have you seen Rony Seikaly? Have you seen his wife? Also, why is it that soccer players somehow get the hottest of all? I chalk that one up to being European, and apparently chicks dig European soccer players, weird. Anyways, without rambling on about how lucky some people are, I'll just show you instead. For your viewing pleasure, the top 5 hottest wives in sports...

1. Cheryl Tweedy - Married to soccer player Ashley Cole
First off, his name is Ashley, which immediately makes me draw a connection with the one and only former O-Town member Ashley Parker Angel...not good. In my research, I found out that Cheryl is a member of the English girl group Girls Aloud. Must say, great name. I also found out that in January of 2003, Mrs. Cole was involved in an altercation with a nightclub toilet attendant in a Guildford nightclub. Couple of things here, I wish I could've seen that fight, where was Ashley during it, and where is Guildford? Enough text...enjoy the picture.

2. Carmella Decesare - Married to football player Jeff Garcia
That's right...Jeff Garcia. Needless to say, Carmella is a model, and she was named Playboy Playmate of the Year in 2004...good stuff. But I dug up some dirt on her as well, and this one is funny. In September of 2004, she pled not guilty to assault in a Cleveland, Ohio court after a catfight in a bar on between herself and Kristen Hine, the then girlfriend of quarterback Jeff Garcia. This for Jeff Garcia...come on. To finish the story, she was acquitted of the assault charge but found guilty of violating a restraining order. Look at her picture, Jeff Garcia...really?

3. Victoria Beckham - Married to soccer player David Beckham
What's with the soccer player thing? I know the guy just signed a 250 million dollar contract to come to the United States to play soccer, but, actually that's exactly why he has her. We all know Victoria as "Posh Spice" from the Spice Girls, and we all know she's really hot, is there anything else that needs to be explained? I think not. Onto the pic.

4. Lisa Dergan - Married to baseball player Scott Podsednik
My brother used to work for the Brewers when Podsednik was a member of the team, and he said that Scotty Po was quite the jerk. But who cares...he has a hot wife. Lisa Dergan is FOX sports net reporter, which makes her even hotter. In addition, she has done modeling in Japan, and later developed an affinity for the Japanese culture that inspired her to continue her education with Japanese language classes at UCLA. Oh yeah, and she posed in Playboy in 1998. Pictures to follow.

5. Elsa Benitez - Married to former basketball player and Greek God Rony Seikaly
Hailing from Greece, via Syracuse University, comes Rony Seikaly. I remember Rony as being the guy who always played with greasy hair, and that will never change. Once I found out he was married to Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Elsa Benitez, I literally fell to the floor. Elsa may not actually be the 5th hottest sports wife (although she's still really hot), but could I really leave Rony Seikaly off of this list...I think not.

Honorable Mention:
Elin Nordegren - Married to Tiger Woods
Candace Cameron (Full House) - Married to hockey player Valeri Bure (once again a girls name)
Anna Benson ("I'll sleep with the whole team if you cheat on me Kris") - Married to baseball player Kris Benson

"That's what happens when you come to LaCrosse"

It's been awhile...figured I get back on here and do my thing. This post has no real point behind it, just gonna wing it. What this means is that everything to follow is either currently on my mind or is bothering me for some reason. That said, onto the randomness:

Thumbs up to GBC (Grab Bag Challenge) coming in at #8 in the Top 10 Stoughton Sponsored Drinking Events as seen on Jim's blog and voted on by friends. However, when is GBC VI happening? Have we forgot about this great drinking event? Thumbs down to the 3rd/4th of July being rated ahead of GBC. Go to Jim's Blog for the complete list of The Top Stoughton Sponsored Drinking Events.

Thumbs up to Colt Brennan for entering the NFL Draft. This was the best decision of your life, well ahead of any decision you made while you were at Colorado. Thumbs down to everyone who says it was a mistake for him declare. They obviously don't know the real Colt Brennan. Giving him one more year in college gives him another year to mess it all up, trust me.

Thumbs up to 49ers coach Mike Nolan and Jags coach Jack Del Rio, or as I like to call him, "Jack of the River," for sporting suits on the sidelines this year. Thumbs down to the the NFL for only allowing them to wear Reebox made suits. If a man wants to wear a suit, let him choose the suit. It's science.

Thumbs up to the white pants Erin Andrews was wearing for the Wisky/Ohio St. game last week...and to Erin Andrews in general. Spank bank...lock. I would marry this lady on the spot if I had the chance. And another thumbs up to the kid in the picture and the placement of his hand, nice work my friend, too bad you live in Iowa. Thumbs down to Erin Andrews attending the University of Florida, but wear those white pants again, and I'm over it. Wait, I'm already over it. But please wear the white pants again. I can't believe this is the first post in which I have mentioned Erin Andrews...sad.

Thumbs up to the color magenta. Although it was color of the month in December, I'm bringing it back for January. It is worthy of a two month stint. Thumbs down to not seeing magenta at the Sweater Party. We were all waiting on that sweater.

Thumbs up to the city of LaCrosse. Everytime I go back, it's like I never left. The drinking environment goes unmatched in the state of Wisconsin. Thumbs down to Terry getting sucker-punched in LaCrosse, to the guy that did it, and to the cop that said and I quote "That's what happens when you come to LaCrosse." Really...that's what happens there? Two words...WOW.

Thumbs up to the word crapshoot. I really like saying, "that was a real crapshoot." Actually I've never said that before, but I want to. Thumbs down to the words crap and shoot alone. But put them together and it's good stuff. The inintricacies of the english language.

I have more but I have to cut this one short. I'll be back with the rest later this week, and maybe more things will creep into my mind. I love Erin Andrews.

Ohio St. vs. Florida

National Championship game is tonight, and for some reason, it just doesn't seem like a normal championship game to me. I find myself asking...Why is Florida in the game? Why is it on January 8th this year? And why is it on FOX? Hopefully others have noticed, but FOX is absolutely horrible when it comes to college football. The picture is really dark, and the sound is muffled. Sure they do a better job with NFL games, and it's kinda cool to see Barry Alvarez in the booth, but that's about it. Oh and one more thing before I get to the final pick...good luck to Jim, Kevin, and Koontz in Vegas. Hope you're betting skills have improved within the week.

Standings: (as of January 8, 2007)
Me: 39-36-1
Kevin: 35-38-3
Koontz: 23-26
Jim: 35-40-1
Mike: 0-5

Line: Ohio St. (-7)

My pick: Ohio St.
Kevin's pick: Ohio St.
Jim's pick: Ohio St.
Koontz' pick:

Stocco's Bid Farwell

It was perhaps the worst week to be a fan of Wisconsin quarterbacks. Brett Favre may have very well played his last game in a Packers jersey, and John Stocco's elgibility has sadly run up. While Brett has and will continue to garner all the attention, and deservedly so, Stocco will sit back, be overlooked for his accomplishments, and fade into his all but certain back-up quarterback role when he enters the NFL.

Stocco capped off a stellar four year career at the University of Wisconsin with a win over 12th ranked Arkansas in the Capital One Bowl on Monday, and although it wasn't his best performance, he once again pulled it out and was named MVP of the game. I will be the first to admit that there are many quarterbacks who are more talented than Stocco, but there are few quarterbacks who know how to win and have won like Stocco.

Stocco's Sophomore Year...leading us to victory over Ohio St.

In his three years as a starter, Stocco has compiled a 29-7 record, good for second place in all-time wins at Wisconsin behind Brooks Bollinger who had 30. And had he not gotten hurt and missed games against Buffalo and Iowa (which ended his impressive streak of 35 consecutive starts), Stocco would've finished with 31 wins and the record. He has also led the Badgers to three straight bowl appearances, the Outback Bowl in 2004, and the Capital One Bowl in both 2005 and 2006. Stocco led Wisconsin to three consecutive nine-win seasons, and the Badgers are one of only five teams to achieve that feat in the past three years (along with Auburn, Boise State, USC and Texas). Furthermore, Stocco set single-season school records in 2005 with 2,920 passing yards, 21 touchdown passes, 197 completions, 414 plays and 2,888 total yards. Stocco nearly set the all time passing yardage record as well, finishing his career with 7,227 passing yards in just 36 games as a starter. Number one in that category is Darrell Bevell who finished his career with 7,686 yards in 43 games as a starter. It's pretty obvious that Stocco would've shattered that record and many others if he had 7 more games under his belt.

Stocco's Junior Year...the quarterback sneak that won it against Michigan

But the worst part of it all is how Stocco has been received by the media, and more importantly, Badger fans. I know a lot of people that have season tickets to Badger football that still seem to think Stocco sucks. If you knew football at all or were a true Badger fan, you know Stocco doesn't suck. The wins don't lie, and to back up the wins, the numbers and records don't either. But there still remains a common theme with Stocco among fans: when we lose, everyone is quick to point out that Stocco is to blame, but when we win, it's always something other than Stocco that won it for us. And it's been like that for his entire career. When the Badgers won 9 in a row to start off the 2004 season, the defense got the credit. But when they lost their last three games to end the season, most of the blame fell on Stocco. Most people don't understand that the defense gave up 103 points in those final 3 games (34.3 points per game). And then in 2005, all the credit went to the trio of senior receivers and Brian Calhoun. None of it went to Stocco. I wonder what it will be this year? He lost all those receivers, he lost Calhoun, he even had knee surgery before the season began, but it couldn't have been him that led us to a 12-1 season, the most in Wisconsin history. Could it? Hell no...it had to have been rookie coach Bret Beilema. Not Beilema's fault though, just the story of Stocco's career.

Stocco's Senior Year...Capital One Bowl win in last game

All in all, you will never find a quarterback who was more scrutinized for winning over 80 percent of his games in the history of organized football. Bret Beilema put it best: "There has probably never been a quarterback that's won, with as much success, as John Stocco and taken as much verbal abuse from fans, sports writers and everybody in between." Wisconsin fans seem to think they are the best fans in the nation, well the way Stocco was treated the past four years makes me think otherwise. The fans never appreciated Stocco and never will. All you have to do is visit the ESPN message board and you're sure to see numerous posts about how he's terrible. Hell, Tyler Donovan has received more praise for winning 2 games than Stocco has for winning 29, now that's terrible. Sure Stocco hasn't always looked pretty, and there's been times where we've all wondered what they hell he was thinking, but the bottom line is that he won games. Stocco won't be remembered for his 29 wins or his handful of records, he probably won't be remembered at all. He's that type of a guy. Give it 5 years, and he will almost certainly be completely forgotten by the fair-weather Badger season ticket holders. Sad story. So here's to Stocco, here's to many Aflac Trivia questions based on you, and for the last time...Stocco for Heisman.

Week 3: Who's Koontz?

Bowl Week 2 has come and gone, and it's safe to say we will never have a repeat of what happened in Week 1. We went 25-21 this past week, which actually isn't too shabby. That ups the overall bowl record to 45-30...good stuff. Because I have another post coming up right after this one, I'm gonna keep this short. Standings and Week 3 picks follow:

Standings (as of January 1, 2007)
Me: 34-32
Jim: 32-34
Koontz: 23-26
Kevin: 31-33-2
Mike: 0-5

Week 3 Picks...

My Picks:
1. Auburn (-3) vs. Nebraska
I dont like either team, but I think Auburn is the better team.

2. Tennessee (-4) vs. Penn St.
Paterno is still coaching from the box...he got jacked up.

3. Wisconsin (+1.5) vs. Arkansas
12-1...not bad.

4. West Virginia (-7) vs. Georgia Tech
Offense wins Gator Bowl's, West Virginia has offense.

5. Michigan (-1.5) vs. USC
Should be a good game, but I'm going Big Ten here.

6. Oklahoma (-8.5) vs. Boise St.
Adrian Peterson is back, Oklahoma is too physical.

7. Louisville (-9) vs. Wake Forest
Wake Forest may be the worst team to ever make the BCS.

8. LSU (-8.5) vs. Notre Dame
Notre Dame doesn't win bowl games.

9. Western Michigan (+7) vs. Cincy
Don't know why I picked this one.

10. Southern Miss (-6) vs. Ohio
Rode both teams this year, I was torn.

Kevin's Picks:
1. Auburn (-3) vs. Nebraksa

2. Tennessee (-4) vs. Penn State
Can you say L.O.C

3. Wisconsin (+1.5) vs. Arkansas
McFag gets shut down. Badgers win.

4. G. Tech (+7) vs. WV
I really like WV and they may win but not by 11.

5. Michigan (-1.5) vs. USC
Michigan wins by 2 TDs

6. Oklahoma (-8.5) vs. Boise
Boise wanted a BCS. Boise got a BCS. Boise is going to lose a BCS.

7. Louisville (-9) vs. Wake Forest
Wake is not that good.

8. LSU (-8.5) vs. Notre Dame
Notre Dame loses and Brady Quinn Cries. Seriously LSU is very good, Ohio State vs LSU would be really cool.

9. Cincy (-7) vs. W. Michigan

10. Ohio (+6) vs. Southern Miss

Jim's Picks:
1. Auburn (-3) vs. Nebraska
Because Nebraska is a dumb state

2. Tennesse (-4) vs. Penn State
Because Penn State was not good this year

3. Wisconsin (+1.5) vs. Arkansas
Because they are really great

4. West Virginia (-7) vs. Georgia Tech
Because the ACC sucks

5. Michigan (-1.5) vs. USC
Because they are really good

6. Oklahoma (-8.5) vs. Boise State
Because they are playing Boise

7. Louisville (-9) vs. Wake Forest
Because the ACC sucks part II

8. LSU (-8.5) vs. Notre Dame
Because Notre Dame hasn't won a bowl game since I was ten years old

9. Cincinnati (-7) vs. Western Michigan
Because it is in Toronto

10. Ohio (+6) vs. Southern Miss
Because I say

Koontz forgot to pick this week, but hopefully he'll pick the National Championship game which culminates the college football season and our weekly picks. Boy was it great.

Bowl Week 2 Picks: A Whales ______.

Bowl Week 2 is here...and that means better games, hopefully. The first week was filled with blow outs and bowl games that nobody watches. However, every week after, more and more viewers tune in until it all culminates with the National Championship...it's science. Speaking of tuning in, tough decision tonight, listen to the Badger basketball game on the radio or watch the Emerald Bowl. I'll go with the former. Go Big Ten! Onto the picks:

My Picks:

1. Central Michigan (-9) vs. Middle Tenn. St.
The fact that Middle Tennessee St. is in a bowl is proof that there are too many bowl games.

2. Florida St. (+3) vs. UCLA
Did you know that Drew Weatherford was Homecoming King?

3. Oklahoma St. (-2) vs. Alabama
For the last time this year…I don’t like John Parker Wilson.

4. Rutgers (-7) vs. Kansas St.
I like Schiano in this one.

5. Cal (-4) vs. Texas A&M
The game is in San Diego, which of course means, a whales _____(left blank for the kids).

6. Clemson (-9.5) vs. Kentucky
This has the potential to be the “lock of the bowl season.” But I’m not saying it.

7. Oregon St. (-3.5) vs. Mizzou
Beavers over Tigers.

8. South Carolina (-6) vs. Houston
What are the odds that Steve Spurrier becomes the next Joe Paterno?

9. Texas Tech (-6.5) vs. Minnesota
I always root for the Big Ten during bowl season, but Minnesota sucks at football this year.

10. Purdue (pick) vs. Maryland
Here’s my Big Ten bias at its best.

11. Boston College (-6) vs. Navy
I vote Doug Flutie as next coach.

12. Iowa (+9) vs. Texas
Big Ten baby.

13. VT (-2.5) vs. Georgia
If you’re bored reading this…search Georgia in Yahoo images…it never gets old.

14. Miami (-3.5) vs. Nevada
Coke over Pepsi. Coker over whoever the hell Nevada’s coach is.

Kevin’s Picks:

1. Central Michigan (-9) vs. Middle Tennessee St.
Ahh yes, the battle of the middle and centrals. Its in Detroit, I’m taking Cent. Michigan.

2. UCLA (-3) vs. Florida State
Where does California get off saying they are a better dairy state than us? Go Bruins!

3. Oklahoma State (-2) vs. Alabama
I told you magenta doesn’t like Tulsa. She doesn’t like Bama either.

4. Rutgers (-7) vs. K State
Schiano finishes a great season out with a bowl win.

5. Cal (-4) vs. Texas A&M
I’ll take Cal even though I once had them as a LOC (lock of the century) and lost earlier. Weird how LOC spells “lock” also. Cool eh?

6. Clemson (-9.5) vs. Kentucky

7. Oregon State (-3.5) vs. Missouri
Oregon State is a bandwagon team. Beaver=slang for _____(left blank for the kids).

8. South Carolina (-6) vs. Houston

9. Minnesota (+6.5) vs. Texas Tech
BIG TEN

10. Maryland (pick) vs. Purdue
Sorry Big Ten but Purdue’s quarterback looks like a garbage patch kid.

11. BC (-6) vs. Navy

12. Iowa (+9) vs. Texas
Colt McCoy.

13. Georgia (+2.5) vs. Va. Tech
Peaches come from a can; they were put there by a man.

14. Nevada (+3.5) vs. Miami

Jim’s Picks:

First off, I hope that everyone enjoyed the holiday week. It's good to see the Brewers add another pitcher to the staff as well. Badger basketball is looking good, let's hope they keep it rolling. Now on to the Bowl Week 2 Picks:

1. Motor City Bowl
Cental Michigan (-9) vs. Middle Tennessee State
Blue Raiders lose.

2. Emerald City Bowl
UCLA (-3) vs. Florida State
Florida State has had one of the worst years they've had since I've watched college football, UCLA beat USC.

3. Independence Bowl
Oklahoma State (-2) vs. Alabama
Did you know that Forrest Gump played for Alabama?

4. Texas Bowl
Rutgers (-7) vs. Kansas State
I heard this game is on NFL Network, for those who get that channel, enjoy the game I'll bet it will be wonderful.

5. Holiday Bowl
Texas A & M (+4) vs. Cal
I tried to like both of these teams for my picks this year, it didn't work well.

6. Music City Bowl
Clemson (-9.5) vs. Kentucky
Clemson I thought was good, they aren't that good, but Kentucky isn't either. I think this might be Kentucky's first bowl game in 250 years.

7. Sun Bowl
Oregon State (-3.5) vs. Missouri
Whatever happened to Ken Simonton?

8. Liberty Bowl
South Carolina (-6) vs. Houston
David Klingler played for Houston, his record just got broken. I still hate Steve Spurrier.

9. Insight Bowl
Texas Tech (-6.5) vs. Minnesota
I still cannot believe that Minnesota made a bowl game.

10. Champs Sports Bowl
Purdue (pick) vs. Maryland
Drew Brees played for Purdue, he is having a good year. Maryland wears Under Armor, they will not protect that house.

11. Meineke Car Care Bowl
Navy (+6) vs. Boston College
Who is coaching the game for BC?

12. Alamo Bowl
Iowa (+9) vs. Texas
If Texas isn't in a BCS bowl, they don't care.

13. Chick-fil-a Peach Bowl
Virginia Tech (-2.5) vs. Georgia
I have never liked the Georgia Bulldogs. Troy Smith is better than Michael Vick used to be, but Smith won't be a number one pick like Vick was.

14. MPC Computers Bowl
Miami (-3.5) vs. Nevada
Miami had a terrible terrible season, but pull one out here in the end. Larry Coker looks like a plantation owner.

Koontz’ Picks:

1. Central Michigan (-9) vs. Middle Tennessee St.
2. UCLA (-3) vs. Florida St.
3. Kentucky (+9.5) vs. Clemson
4. Oregon St (-3.5) vs. Mizzou
5. South Carolina (-6) vs. Houston
6. Purdue (pick) vs. Maryland
7. Minnesota (+6.5) vs. Texas Tech

20-8...not bad

I'll keep this one short since I'll be posting this week's bowl picks tomorrow. But I do have to say that I knew that we would get better once the bowl's hit. We actually went 20-8 this week, which has to be our best week of all time. Let's hope for more of the same this week. Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas, and check back tomorrow.

Standings (as of December 25, 2006)
Me: 27-25
Jim: 26-26
Koontz: 19-23
Kevin: 21-29-2
Mike: 0-5

Where the hell are they now?

I must start off by saying that this post has been inspired by Kevin's latest post "What the hell is that on your face?," and if you haven't read it already, please do so. Now I'm sure that the majority of us have seen shows like VH1's 100 Greatest Teen Stars and E!'s True Hollywood Stories, well this is my very own version of those, a spin-off if you will, which I cleverly named "Where the hell are they now?" If you're anything like me, you have found yourself wondering where your favorite childhood television personalities are in 2006 on many occasions. To end the wonderment and personal anguish, I have compiled a list of 3 tv personalities of the past 22 years (how long I've been alive), who I find myself wondering, "Where the hell are they now?" So without further ado...the countdown from 3 to 1.

3. Bret "The Hitman" Hart
If you're wondering why I chose "The Hitman" over his other nicknames ("The Excellence of Execution" and "The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be"), it's because "The Hitman" fits better and rolls off the tongue. If you aren't sure who Bret Hart is, he was a famous pro wrestler during the 1990's, a major heart-throb, and his signature move "The Sharpshooter" was no laughing matter. He was a Canadian Idol, which is evident by this Bret Hart Commercial...lucky kid.

Where the hell is he now?
Well first off, I found out that Bret was born and now lives in Canada, which must be shitty. Moreover, his life has been filled with tragedy. His brother Owen Hart, who was also a pro wrestler, died after a failed ring stunt in 1999. Then in 2002, Bret himself suffered a stroke after a bicycle accident. The Calgary Herald reported that Hart hit a pothole, flew over the handbars of the bike and landed on the back of his head. Hart suffered partial paralysis after the stroke, which required months of physical therapy. Good news is he has since recovered much of his mobility and is in good health, although he still suffers from an emotional imbalance. Not good times. But not all is bad as he was chosen as one of the Greatest Canadians, coming in at #39 in 2004, got a hockey team named after him (Calgary Hitmen), and was inducted to the WCW Hall of Fame earlier this year. As I said, he currently lives in Canada, writes a column for the Calgary Sun newspaper, and is working on an autobiography which he says "is all but finished...I just need a title." Put that in your book.

2. Andrea Barber
Who the hell is Andrea Barber? Here's a hint: Who was DJ Tanner's best friend in Full House? If you said Kimmy Gibbler, you are correct. Hopefully Bruce Grady reads this because he would be happy to see a Full House character mentioned on my blog after the hours and hours spent watching the show. Also, until doing a little research, I had no idea how to spell Uncle Jesse's last name...it's Katsopolis. I knew how to pronounce it obviously, but if someone wanted me to spell it in say a spelling bee, I would've lost. One more interesting fact before I move on, Kimmy was featured in 112 of 192 episodes of Full House, good stuff. The clip I have of Kimmy is from a Full House episode in which she got drunk: Kimmy Gibbler getting drunk.

Where the hell is she now?
First off I have to say she looks a lot better now than she ever did on Full House. From the looks of it, she is married, has a kid named Tate, and lives in England. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in women's studies at the University of York, and I could totally see her as a women's studies type person too. Hope that works out for you Kimmy Gibbler.

1. Thomas Wilson
Once again, who the hell is Thomas Wilson? Look at the picture...it's none other than Back to the Future's Biff Tannen. I was a huge Back to the Future fan, but oddly enough, never a Biff Tannen fan. He was a douche in the movies, and I'm not one to judge, but who knows if that's changed now days?

Where the hell is he now?
Thomas Wilson aka Biff Tannen is now a self-proclaimed musical artist, actor, comedian, writer, speaker, and man of faith. Apparently, he's a lot of things to a lot of people. But to me, he will never be Thomas Wilson the comedian, he will remain Biff Tannen the douche from Back to the Future until the day I die. I found a video of him singing the Question Song. Also, be sure to check out his offical website www.tomwilsonusa.com or even make friends with him on Myspace...www.myspace.com/tomwilsonusa.

Before I end this, I have to post something Christmas oriented to keep the holiday spirit alive. Seeing as how my favorite Christmas movie of all time is 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, I went in search of anything pertaining to this fine story. This is what I found...'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Larry the Cable Guy.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Bowl Week One of Three

College Football Bowl Season has arrived, and it's time to pick some games. Many of you may have thought we were done picking, but you have been sadly misled. Looking at the Bowls and the entire BCS Championship Series, I have realized that sponsorship and advertising have taken over College Football. So before I get to this week's picks, let's take a look at some of this year's Bowl names:

1. San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl - The Rose is the only real flower in football
2. Papa John's.com Bowl - Better ingredients. Better Pizza. Papa John's.
3. Meineke Car Care Bowl - Does George Foreman still do Meineke commercials?
4. Chick-Fil-A Bowl - Not even the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl anymore, sad day
5. MPC Computers Bowl - What the hell is MPC?

Every year there are new names. Hell, even the official name of the Rose Bowl is now The Rose Bowl presented by Citi. But it's good to see the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl is still around. I do have to say I miss Bowls like the Copper Bowl. I'll never forget Ron Dayne vs. Chris Fuamatu Ma'afala in the 1996 Copper Bowl.

Enough about that, onto the standings and the 7 picks. Enjoy.

Standings after the Regular Season (as of December 19, 2006)
Me: 23-22
Jim: 20-25
Koontz: 14-21
Kevin: 16-27-2
Mike: 0-5

My Picks:
TCU (-13) vs. Northern Illinois
Jeff Ballard smokes pot…enough said.

BYU (-3) vs. Oregon
I wonder who Koontz takes in this game?

Rice (-4.5) vs. Troy
I had fried rice for lunch today, it was tasty.

South Florida (-4.5) vs. East Carolina
I actually rode the South Florida bandwagon for a few games this year, sticking with em.

New Mexico (-3.5) vs. San Jose St.
Home field advantage is the sole reason I’m going with New Mexico

Tulsa (+1) vs. Utah
Kevin says Magenta hates Tulsa, I say Kevin’s full of shit.

Hawaii (-7) vs. Arizona St.
Colt Brennan for heisman.

Kevin's Picks:
TCU (-13) vs. Northern Illinois
TCU gives up only 68 yards rushing per game. If TCU can contain Garret Wolfe, I don’t feel as if No. Illinois has the quarterback play to win this one.

BYU (-3) vs. Oregon
A 9 game win streak meets a 3 game losing streak. I’m going to stick with the hot team and take BYU to win by a touch.

Rice (-4.5) vs. Troy
I still stand firm that rice is for Mexicans. Mexicans don’t play football. However, Troy Freidreichs played football and he sucked. Rice wins it by 30 pts.

South Florida (-4.5) vs. East Carolina
Why is this the Papajohns.com bowl and not simply the Papa Johns Bowl? Well if you may recall, last time I picked East Carolina to win they lost to Rice. This is a no-brainer, South Florida wins with ease.

New Mexico (-3.5) vs. San Jose State
New Mexico is in the New Mexico Bowl, got to take ‘em.

Utah (-1) vs. Tulsa
*Inside tip, Magenta hates Tulsa. Take Utah.

Hawaii (-7) vs. Arizona State
Hawaii is playing in the Hawaii bowl...go figure. Hawaii can light it up and will do so against Arizona State. I see this as high scoring, with Hawaii doing just enough to cover.

Jim's Picks:
I don't know the names of all the bowls, so I am going to make up my own names for them.

The DeKalb Bowl
N. Illinois (+13) vs. TCU
I'm sure this is a terrible pick, just like DeKalb is a terrible city, I hate DeKalb. Actually I just finished typing this and came back to this pick, I'm changing my pick on this game TCU (-13) vs. Northern Illinois. N. Illinois sucks and TCU is good.

The Ty Detmer Bowl
BYU (-3) vs. Oregon
Detmer wills the Cougars to victory with his mind.

I bet nobody actually cares about this Bowl
Rice (-4.5) vs. Troy
Rice vs. Troy, get your tickets now!

The Directional School Bowl
South Florida (-4.5) vs. East Carolina
Go Bulls

The Home Game Bowl Part I
San Jose (+3.5) vs. New Mexico
San Jose wins one on the road

The Boring City Bowl, also known as the I couldn't find a line for this game Bowl
Utah (-1) vs. Tulsa
I couldn't find a line, I don't know the record of either team.

The Home Game Bowl Part II
Hawaii (-7) vs. Arizona State
Colt Brennan breaks records, then gets talked about for Heisman next year before he gets arrested, or hurt, or just blows his season.

There you have it, it's amazing how two weeks off of college football and I'm already full force into college basketball and remember nearly nothing about the season we just had. I hate DeKalb.

Koontz' Picks:
Northern Illinois (+13) vs. TCU
BYU (-3) vs. Oregon
Rice (-4.5) vs. Troy
South Florida (-4.5) vs. East Carolina
San Jose St (+3.5) vs. New Mexico
Utah (-1) vs. Tulsa
Hawaii (-7) vs. Arizona St.

And that's that. Both Jim and Kevin's blog have been updated, be sure to check them out as well.

Magenta: my new favorite color

Well it is 7:08 pm on a normal Thursday evening, and about time to write something new. I have had a few slow weeks due to unforseen circumstances, but I feel as if things will take a turn for the better sooner than later. In fact, Jim and I have been talking about it and both agree that 2007 will be "The Year of Andy." Not exactly sure why, but I have a good feeling about '07 nonetheless.

We all know about "The Year of Jim." And damn did he have a good year. I am awaiting some sort of a blog from him about the events that took place during that fine year. But I know for a fact that Georgia happened that year, and as Jim would say, good times. By the way, go to yahoo images type in Georgia and search, you won't be dissapointed. What a great state.

Just found out that the Madison Sports Hall of Fame named UW-Whitewater its "Area Sportspeople of the Year." How bout that? I saw it on the UWW homepage in the "advantage whitewater" section. This is where Whitewater puts up all the advantages it has over other schools, great selling point. And if you haven't noticed, every time you refresh your browser, a new advantage will come up. Please keep refreshing until you see the one with Art professor Dan McGuire. Can't beat it. Speaking of Whitewater, went to the game last week, and it was a blow-out. But Damn magenta was looking good. I have decided that the early morning hung-over talk amongst friends is the best time of your life, and that I will still be thinking of them when I'm 65 years old. If you and your friends aren't partaking in this ritual, please do. If you haven't heard about my run-in with an old middle school classmate, please ask. Actually, all you really need to know is four words...get away from me. Damn magenta was looking good. The old "rubbing one off" line has been the subject of much debate these past few weeks. I think it does in fact make more sense for women than men...think about it. However, that does not mean men should stop using the line. I dislike dyed blonde hairtips (ie. Lance Bass, Lance Bass's fomer boyfriend, and we all know who else). And finally, damn magenta was looking good.

This week's list...
Favorite TV sitcoms (subject to change at any time):
1. King Of Queens
2. That 70's Show
3. Still Standing
4. Yes, Dear
5. Friends

People might be asking where is "Everybody Loves Raymond" and "Seinfeld?" Answer: Raymond is over done, it's on like every channel now, and I've never really gotten into Seinfeld.

Link of the week:
Since Jim was talking about it in his blog, here's a link to see a live performance of "We Built This City" by Starship.

"I went to Jared"

Sorry to all those who were awaiting my post the past few days, I've been a little busy with the websites and music stuff. Anyways, I definitely have a few random things to rant about. First off, Christmas is right around the corner, and not only does that mean it's Sweater Party time, but it also means that there are a slew of new Christmas commercials on TV. Each year, I have this little thing where I pick my favorite and least favorite commercial, and although there are still 17 days until Christmas, I have already found the winner and loser. I'll start with the loser.

Hands down, it's the Jared commercial. "He went to Jared," yeah that one. I have never heard the same line used in a commerical as many times as this one in this commercial. What's worse is that it is used in several different formats. "He went to Jared?", "He went to Jared.", "He went to Jared!", and of course, "He went to Jared!!!!!!!!!...and many more. And then the clincher...the douche bag at the end looks at the camera and says "I went to Jared." What the hell is that? Who comes up with this? The other guys are getting scolded by their wives for not going to Jared, while the guy that did is praised for doing so. Does this mean that I now feel pressured to go to Jared? No. In fact, I will never go to Jared simply because of this one commercial. Also, why the hell is it called the "Galleria of Jewelry"? Galleria...figures.

Now onto the winner. Without a doubt, it's the Zales commercial. It's the most unrealistic commercial I've seen in a awhile, which is why it's the best. If you haven't seen it, let me explain. It is set inside a mall, and includes two white males walking towards eachother. I'm under the impression that they do not know eachother, but the fact that a high five is exchanged makes me think otherwise, or else why the high five? The reason for the high five is because they both went to Zales and picked up some jewelry for their wives/partners (I only say partners because you never know these days). The best part is that they both have this shit grin on their face like they actually enjoyed their shopping experience. A shit grin like the one in the commercial is usually reserved for after banging your wife, not after buying jewelry for your wife, but since jewelry often leads to banging and the two are directly related, the shit grin is appropriate and is a great use of foreshadowing. So now you ask yourself: How often do you see two guys in a mall exchanging high fives while both carrying a Zales bag? The answer: never. Knowing that this event never actually takes place in real life makes me laugh everytime. Combine this with the foreshadowing, and you have the winner.

Before I end this one, I want to say thanks to everyone who came out last night to watch us play. Also, we have a Christmas show coming up on Dec. 22nd. It's up in Madison at the Klinic on Park St. next to the one and only Rustic Tavern. Bring your friends.

73-100-2

Well, bowl season can't come soon enough as it will bring an end to this awful thing. We went a combined 10-10 this week, and finished the regular season 73-100-2. I'm not quite sure how we are going to work the bowl schedule with our picks, so if you have any suggestions, please let them be known.

I have plenty of more things to say that are non-football related, but I will save them for tomorrow's post. Also, if there is anyone that reads this other than us four, check out Jim's blog as well as Kevin's blog. I wonder when Koontz will start one? Anyways, the standings are below, and check back tomorrow.

Standings after week 9 (as of December 4, 2006)
Me: 23-22
Jim: 20-25
Koontz: 14-21
Kevin: 16-27-2
Mike: 0-5

Week 9: Championship Week

At last, we have finally made it to Championship Week. The standings aren't pretty, but just because something isn't pretty doesn't mean you stop doing it (ask Kane about that one). With Bowl Season looming, it's time for all of us to post a solid week to boost future reader turnout. Who am I kidding, we are the only ones that read this blog, so fuck it, let's do our usual thing.

Completely off topic, I hope all of you watched the UNC vs. Ohio St. game last night. I can honestly say that I enjoyed the entire game. The pace of the game was even more enjoyable. How can you not like people running up and down the floor, and each posession ended with a 3-pointer or dunk? If that game would've been the National Championship game, I would not have been dissapointed.

Also, it was just brought to my attention that Jack Ikegwuon was arrested last Saturday in DeKalb, Ill., and faces charges of residential burglary and criminal trespass. Just figures that it was in Dekalb. Read the whole story here:
http://www.jsonline.com/watch/?watch=2&date=11/30/2006&id=15076

Anyways, back to the task at hand. Standings and reasonings follow. Enjoy.

Standings after week 8 (as of November 30, 2006)
Me: 21-19
Jim: 17-23
Koontz:11-19
Kevin: 15-23-2
Mike: 0-5

Picks:
Me: Georgia Tech(-2.5), New Mex St. (-12), USC (-13), Florida (-2.5), Navy (-20)
Kevin: Georgia Tech (-2.5), Florida (-2.5), USC (-13), West Virginia (-10), Hawaii (-7.5)
Jim: Navy (-20), USC (-13), San Jose St. (-4), TCU (-17), Wake (+2.5)
Koontz: UCLA (+13), Louisville (-28), Florida (-2.5), Georgia Tech (-2.5), Hawaii (-7.5)

My Reasons:
1. Georgia Tech (-2.5) vs. Wake
This is the ACC Championship? How weak is that. I am still not sold on Wake as being a BCS team…no way. Therefore, by default, I have to go with the Yellow Jackets.

2. New Mexico St. (-12) vs. La Tech
Chase Holbrook, the Aggies quarterback, is the best kept secret in college football. He has thrown for over 4,000 yards this year, and has tossed 31 touchdowns against just 9 interceptions. Keep in mind he’s only a sophomore, but also keep in mind he plays for New Mexico St. All in all, he will have a field day against La Tech.

3. USC (-13) @ UCLA
Virtually a home game for both clubs. After watching USC dismantle Notre Dame last week, it’s only fair that they get a shot at Ohio St. if they win this game, which they will. The line for the BCS title game: Ohio St. (-3) vs. USC.

4. Florida (-2.5) vs. Arkansas
I don’t like the Gators, but they have more to play for, and are undoubtedly the better team here. Arkansas had a good run, but it all ends here.

5. Navy (-20) vs. Army
I didn’t really want to pick this game, but felt obligated to do so. When thinking about which of the two I respect more for what they do for our country in real life, it’s a hard to decipher. When thinking about which football team is better, it’s quite simple…Navy.

Kevin's Reasons:
So here I sit at 4:24pm on Tuesday. My work shift is about to end in approximately 6 minutes. However, I will not be punching out, for I need to write my picks of the week. I figure with the additional 20 minutes of work it will take me to pick from this weeks slate of games I can earn a few extra dollars (1/3rd of an hour at 6.80 per hour = $2.26). Wow I am getting paid an astounding 2 and a quarter dollars to write this crap. Too bad I have lost several hundred dollars on the picks themselves. I figure if I do this once a week, for the next 921,828.90 years, I will have raised an additional one million dollars in overtime work. Now how many people can claim to making a million dollars on gambling? Looks like I can. Anyhow onto the picks:

1. Georgia Tech (-2.5) vs. Wake
Wake has had a dream season. I am afraid it will end here in the acc championship game.

2. Florida (-2.5) vs. Arkansas
I thought Arkansas was pretty good. Not anymore.

3. USC (-13) @ UCLA
USC in a must win period.

4. West Virginia (-10) vs. Rutgers

I have said ever since the Louisville win over WV and the Rutgers win over Louisville that WV is going beat Rutgers, making all three one loss teams. Well West Virginia and Rutgers blew that. Either way WV wins this one.

5. Hawaii (-7.5) vs. Oregon St.
Oregon State gets jet lag and loses by 10.

Jim's Reasons:
Since Colt Brennan is the hot topic of late, I thought I'd give a little background on him. Colt Brennan was formerly at Colorado University, but then transferred to Hawaii after he was "dismissed from the team in Feb. 2004 after being accused of barging into a female student's room and making unwanted sexual advances. He pleaded not guilty to all charges and was acquitted of sexual assault but was convicted of first-degree criminal trespass and second-degree burglary, for which he was sentenced to seven days in jail and four years' probation." Luckily he only has two more years of probation left. June Jones let him walk on after a year at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, California. So there you have it ladies and gentlemen, give it up for the NCAA's future NCAA TD single season record holder Colt Brennan! On to the picks of hell.

1. Navy (-20) vs. Army
I have nothing to say about this game other than Army sucks and Navy is not that bad. Go Midshipmen.

2. USC (-13) @ UCLA
USC is good, probably better than we all think. Ohio State will have their hands full in the title game and Dwayne Jarrett is damn good. The last three games, USC has killed teams that were supposed to give them a run. Do you think that Oregon State game woke them up a little? USC wins easy, putting fear into the hearts of all Ohio State fans, and making all Michigan fans forever hate them for preventing what would have been forever known as "The Rematch." Remember Danny Farmer from UCLA? He was a great volleyball player if you don't remember that.

3. @ San Jose State (-4) vs. Fresno State
I'm just playing the odds here. San Jose State is at home, they are 7-3 against the spread, Fresno is 1-10. The Spartans are 7-4 overall and the Bulldogs are 4-7. Let's hope this works out. Pat Hill has a nice 'stache.

4. @ TCU (-17) vs. Air Force
Well since I picked Army/Navy, I thought Air Force should get thrown in their too. Beware of the Horned Frog is back. LaDainian Tomlinson was a great Horned Frog, he is a great NFL player. Texas Christian University, good luck in the postseason.

5. Wake Forest (+2.5) vs. Georgia Tech
I think the ACC sucks at football, but they sure did kick the shit out of the Big Ten this year in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge in basketball. I don't like either of these teams, but I didn't feel like picking the Big 12 game, the SEC game, or the Hawaii/OSU game, so I opted for this when I checked out the last 5 games of each team. Wake has beaten Maryland, FSU, BC, and UNC, and lost to VTech. While, GTech lost to Georgia, and beaten Duke, UNC, NC St, and Miami. Wake's resume is more impressive, well not really but I don't care. Fuck the ACC, both teams lost to Clemson, they are the true champ. Go Woody Dantzler.

I can't wait to pick the bowl games. I'm sure I'll do real well at that. It would be great if Florida, Oklahoma, and Louisville would lose this week.

Koontz' Reasons:
Because I will probably go 0-5, I feel that no explanations are needed. But I will have a "Lock of the Century."

1. UCLA (+13) vs. USC
2. Louisville (-28) vs. UCONN
3. Florida (-2.5) vs. Arkansas
4. Georgia Tech (-2.5) vs. Wake
5. Hawaii (-7.5) vs. Oregon St.
Lock of the Century

Fuck, No BYU. I wonder if the world would explode if BYU played Hawaii...

Let the games begin!

Week 8 Results: a not so happy thanksgiving

I know I sound like a broken record, but we suck at this. I actually managed to go 3-2 this week and pad my overall lead in the process. Kevin also went 3-2, while Jim went 1-4, and Koontz 0-5. That means a combined record of 7-13 for week 8. Good news, season is almost over. Bad news, there are only 17 games to pick from this week, which makes it that much more difficult (as if we need it to get anymore difficult). Furthermore, I always find Conf. Championship week a tough week to pick games, not a good sign.

Before I get to the standings, I wanted to give a few shot outs, much like they do on HOT 105.9:

1. Colt Brennan-Hawaii quarterback and Koontz' secret boyfriend. He has thrown 51 touchdowns and only 9 interceptions this season while leading Hawaii to a 10-2 record. He still has one regular season game this week against Oregon St., and the bowl-game to follow. He has a legitimate shot at 60 touchdown passes.

2. Rutgers-For completely ruining their season with a loss at Cincy. They demanded respect and got it after beating Louisville, only to lose it all the following week. Greg Schiano should go coach Miami if he wants to win a National Championship.

3. Locks of the year/century-We are 0-4 when we proclaim this statement. Enough said.

Now to the standings:

Standings after week 8 (as of November 27, 2006)
Me: 21-19
Jim: 17-23
Koontz:11-19
Kevin: 15-23-2
Mike: 0-5

Check back on Thursday! Or don't.

Week 8: Happy Thanksgiving

Welcome to the Thanksgiving edition of our weekly picking segment. This week I'm going to get straight to the point, and little to no analysis will go into the picks. Standings and picks follow:

Standings after week 7 (as of November 23, 2006)
Me: 18-17
Jim: 16-19
Koontz:11-14
Kevin: 12-21-2
Mike: 0-5

Me: Ohio (-3), North Carolina (-7), Boise St. (-2.5), TCU (-9.5), NC. St. (-2.5)
Kevin: Cincy (-4), Boise St. (-2.5), Ohio (-3), Nebraska (-14), Air Force (-10.5)
Jim: Boston College (-4), Cincy (-4), Boise St. (-2.5), Hawaii (-17.5), Mid Tenn(-8.5)
Koontz: BYU (-10.5), Hawaii (-17.5), Nevada (+2), Tennessee (-20), Oregon St. (-3)

My Reasonings:
1. Ohio (-3) @ Miami (OH)
This is simple...I pick Ohio every week, and Miami (OH) is not good at football.

2. North Carolina (-7) @ Duke
It is my personal opinion that the Tar Heels area much better football team than their record indicates. Also, Duke is not good at football.

3. Boise St. (-2.5) @ Nevada
Nevada is decent, I think Boise is better. Besides, they can't possibly ruin the perfect season at Nevada...or could they?

4. TCU (-9.5) @ Colorado St.
Jeff Ballard smokes pot, which was brought to my attention a couple weeks ago by Kevin. Colorado St. really misses Bradly Van Pelt.

5. NC St. (-2.5) vs. East Carolina
East Carolina lost to Rice last week, please tell me that NC St. can beat them.

Kevin's Reasonings:
Well early last week, I guaranteed a 5-0 weekend. The following picks are my guarantee to be locks come Saturday afternoon. So reheat some turkey and stuffing, sit back and watch yourself collect. Simply place 60 dollars on a 5 team parlay and watch it turn into $1,320. I feel no need for analysis, because these picks are just that good and will not lose...

*all wages are calculated on an assumption an average Culvers employee makes $7.50 per hour.

1. Cincinnati (-4) vs. Uconn
In the past, whenever “lock of the century” was applied to a game, the turnout was not so pretty. Well my friends I am breaking that curse. This is the lock of the century, no doubt about it. Cincinnati wins big and covers.

2. Boise St. (-2.5) @ Nevada

3. Ohio (-3) @ Miami Ohio

4. Nebraska (-14) vs. Colorado

5. Air Force (-10.5) @ UNLV

Jim's Reasonings:
This week's picks will be entered on Thanksgiving Day and will hopefully be decent for once. This week, I am going to spare everyone of any analysis, because I obviously am not an expert.

1. Boston College (-4) @ Miami
I like to call them BoCo, I don't like Miami, Doug Flutie 22 years ago beat them.

2. Cincinnati (-4) @ Connecticut
Remember the year that Wisconsin lost to Cincy and still won the Rose Bowl, why the hell can't that happen anymore. This sucks.

3. Boise State (-2.5) @ Nevada
Well I picked the opposite of Rutgers first loss last week, let's see if I can do it again.

4. @ Hawaii (-17.5) vs. Purdue
Last year Kevin and I won about 45 dollars when Wisconsin beat Hawaii the day after Thanksgiving. This year they will get back at the Big Ten.

5. @ Middle Tennessee State (-9.5) vs. Troy
Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Home of the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders.

Here's to trying not to suck.

Koontz' Reasonings:
1. BYU (-10.5) @ Utah

2. Hawaii (-17.5) vs. Purdue

3. Nevada (+2) vs. Boise St.
Nevada plays a Boise State team that hasnt performed well on the road. They are also coming off two consecutive 42-0 wins, I think they have a good shot at the upset bid.

4. Tennessee (-20) vs. Kentucky
Kentucky beat Louisana-monroe by 2. I'll take my chances on Tennessee by 20 at home.

5. Oregon St. (-3) vs. Oregon
I guess you could say Im a closet beaver fan...I really don't know why.

Let the games begin!

Lleyton Hewitt I Don't Like You

It is currently 12:45 am on Nov. 22nd right now, and I'm too lazy to do anything constructive, and too awake to go to bed, so I thought I'd come on here and share some thoughts on the day that was. My initial intention before logging in was to get some more work done on my new website, but the motivation at this exact point and time is at an all-time low.

For some reason, I watched a rediculous amount of TV today, much more than usual. I woke up at 9 am and began the normal routine...checked email, stocks, and did some Internet browsing, all the while watching a re-run of ER on TNT's "Prime Time in the Day Time." I've never really got why they call it that at 9 in the morning, it just doesn't seem right. Also, while looking for pictures, I found out there is actually an ER video game out. Not shitting. Oh yeah...and Judging Amy, although I've never watched a full episode...sucks.

Anyways, mid-day went pretty normal. Got some work done on the new site until my eyes went crazy (which they do everyday) from looking at the computer screen. I then settled in for episodes of King of Queens, Friends, and Yes, Dear while eating some beef and barley Campbell's soup. Then it was time for the 3 hour American Music Awards. I watched it off and on, but was unfortunately watching when the Pussycat Dolls performed that "loosen up my buttons" song. Hands down, worst live performance I have ever seen. I play music and by no means am I anywhere close to professional, but I was thoroughly disgusted with what I heard. It was one of those situations where it's soo bad you want to turn it off, but you just can't. I finally flipped to some bball and watched that off and on for the remainder of the evening. Marquette beat Duke...and...Wisconsin beat Delaware St. by only 12 or something. Whatever.

Now I'm here watching the WSOP, typing this blog, and for some reason thinking about Lleyton Hewitt and how he screwed me out of $75 dollars in last year's Australian which remains the worst sports bet in the history of sports betting and haunts me nearly every day of my life. How can I go on after that? Well I spent about 10 mintues writing this blog and another 15 looking for some pictures to put on it...so please appreciate the effort. But I'm gonna end this now, and probably fall asleep to whatever show is on A&E. Maybe I'll write another one tomorrow, but maybe not. But I have to finish it off with this:
